PURPOSE:To easily obtain the high-performance carbon material by putting carbonaceous pitch into an open type treating matter container and subjecting the same to a heat treatment under hot isostatic pressurization. CONSTITUTION:The carbonaceous pitch is put into the open type treating matter container and is heat-treated under the hot isostatic pressurization; further, the pitch is carbonized or graphitized, by which the carbon material is obtd. The carbonaceous pitch is otherwise impregnated with the tow of carbon fibers and this impregnated matter is put into the open type treating matter container and is heat-treated under the hot isostatic pressurization and is further carbonized or graphitized at need, by which the carbon/carbon composite material is obtd. The carbonaceous pitch to be used is the pitch of a coal or petroleum system having 100-400 deg.C softening point. The open type treating matter container refers to a container having no sealing function. Metals such as mild steel and stainless steel, glass, graphite or ceramics, etc., are properly selectable as the material thereof according to the purposes of use, etc. |
