PURPOSE:To correct a thin part and a broken part in a picture composed of lines, to erase a small point and a small hole in the picture, to correct an unevenness, etc., in the outline part of the picture, and to make the picture into a satisfactory binarized picture by executing either expanding processing or contracting processing in addition to the expanding processing for the picture. CONSTITUTION:Reflected light from an original 0 by an exposure lamp 2 is image- formed on a line image sensor 7 and outputted through a shading correcting circuit 10 to a binarizing circuit 11. The circuit 11 binarizes a multivalued digital signal supplied from the circuit 10 by threshold density for binarization supplied from a CPU 14 and supplies the binarized digital signal to a first picture expanding circuit 12, and the binarized digital signal is expanded at the circuit 12 and after that supplied to a picture contracting circuit 20. The circuit 20 executes the contracting processing for the input signal and after that sends the input signal to a second picture expanding circuit 21, the circuit 21 executes the expanding processing for the signal, and the processed signal is outputted through an interface 13 to an external device. The thin part and the broken part in a line in the picture and the unevenness, etc., at the outline part of the picture can be corrected, and the picture can be made into the satisfactory binarized picture by executing respective pieces processing at the circuit 12 and the circuits 20 and 21 in this manner. |
