Modified cast iron prodn. - by inoculating melt directly in inert atmos., furnace with strontium and zirconium

Cast iron melt is inoculated directly in the furnace, and under an inert gas atmosphere so that the product contains 0.15-0.25, pref. 0.19% wt. Sr and 0.08-0.12% wt. Zr. The modifying metals are introduced by the inert gas blowing method. USE/ADVANTAGE - This ensures easier and more efficient inoculation of the cast iron melt and the product is more homogenous and of higher quality.
