PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal increase of NOx concentration in exhaust gas, by a method wherein temperature in a cylinder when a pressure in a cylinder is maximized is determined, and feedback control is made on either in air-fuel ratio or an ignition timing so that the determined value is adjusted to a value lower than a given value. CONSTITUTION:A control device 15 performs feedback control of an air-fuel ratio based on detecting signals from an airflow meter 2, a water temperature sensor 6, and an exhaust gas sensor 9 through drive of a fuel injection valve 10 when a detecting value by an exhaust gas temperature sensor 17 is below a given value. In this case, detecting signals from a crank angle sensor 7 and a pressure-in-cylinder sensor 13 are inputted to the control device 15. The maximum value of a pressure in a cylinder within one ignition cycle and a crank angle at a point of time when a maximum value is generated are detected. Based on the maximum value and the crank angle, a temperature in a cylinder is calculated, and a control signal for fuel injection is outputted according to the temperature in a cylinder. |
