The jack includes a body composed of an upper part 10, advantageously made from an injection-moulded plastic, of rectangular cross-section, containing a lifting piston, a reservoir of fluid, and the elements of a pump and of a base plate 22 which is also injection moulded, closing the open underside of this upper part 10, a hand grip 15 or a grasping groove being formed upon moulding in at least one of the walls of the said upper part 10.
