摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent contact of a vehicle with a side wall by obtaining a turning radius with which the body does not contact with the side wall based on a vehicle speed, a rear wheel steering angle, a distance between the body and the side wall and a yaw angle of the body with respect to the side wall then setting the minimum steering angle ratio. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle speed sensor 55, a rear wheel steering angle sensor 60, a pair of ultrasonic distance sensors 62a, 62b arranged in adjacent to the front and rear wheels for detecting the distance between the body and a side wall and a steering angle ratio sensor 56 are provided, and the yaw angle of the body with respect to the side wall is detected through a yaw angle detecting means 62 based on the outputs from the distance sensors 62a, 62b. Turning radius for causing no contact of the body with the sidewall is obtained through a turning radius calculating means A based on a detected yaw angle and a rear wheel steering angle, then a minimum steering angle ratio corresponding to thus obtained turning radius is set through a minimum steering angle ratio setting means B. When a vehicle is operated with a speed lower than a predeter mined level, a steering angle ratio control motor 18 is controlled through a control section C according to thus set minimum steering angle ratio.
