<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a prediction error as a whole by assembling the prediction of an interpolative motion vector in extrapolative prediction. CONSTITUTION:An error between an input signal and a signal delayed by the predictive value of the motion vector outputted from a selection circuit 12 at a variable delay circuit 4 is quantized at a quantization circuit 1, then, is transmitted. Simultaneously, the signal is regenerated, and is accumulated in a frame memory 3. At this time, motion compensation by a regenerated value is performed, and the motion vector is stored in a motion vector holding circuit 8. The prediction of the motion vector is performed by reading out a required vector out of the motion vectors held in the motion vector holding circuit 8 by a control circuit 9 and performing interpolation and extrapolation by an extrapolation prediction circuit 10 and an interpolation prediction circuit 11, respectively.</p> |
