PURPOSE: To provide the display device which is suitable for use both in the daytime and at night by causing the 1st and 2nd optical delay value so as to produce the optical output of a 1st color or the optical output of a composite color including the 1st and 2nd colors in a wide angle of view. CONSTITUTION: A switching means 32 contacts a variable optical delay means 26 to selectively secure the 1st and 2nd switching states and causes the 1st and 2nd optical delay value. At the same time, the optical output of a 1st color or the optical output of a composite color including the 1st and 2nd colors is produced via a 2nd polarization means 22 in a considerably wide angle of view.
