PURPOSE:To easily detect and eliminate the noise in an area set in a document picture by providing an area setting means, a noise discriminating means, and a noise eliminating means. CONSTITUTION:An noise discriminating means 4 obtains the number of black picture elements in the picture element group in a partial area as the noise discrimination and elimination object, which is preliminarily designated by an area setting means 3, in the document picture stored in a picture storage means 2. The obtained number of black picture elements is compared with a preliminarily set threshold (n); and when the number of black picture elements is larger, it is judged that the noise due to a punched hole or the like exists, and a noise eliminating means 5 makes white picture elements of all picture elements in the noticed picture element group to eliminate the noise due to a punched hole or the like. Thus, the noise is surely and easily eliminated. |
