The invention relates to a system for fast recording of sound and/or visual sequences. This system includes in particular a first assembly 1 comprising means 2 for reading a first record carrier 3 on which are recorded sound and/or visual sequences referenced by a preset list, through respective codes themselves recorded on this first carrier. The system also includes a second assembly 8 comprising means 9 for recording on a second carrier 11, sequences chosen from the record list of the first carrier 3, of predetermined number. Lastly, the system includes means 13 for selecting sequences chosen for their recording on the second carrier 11 and payment-controlled operating means 18, for permitting the recording of a predetermined number of sequences on the second carrier only when payment has been made, this predetermined number depending on the amount of the payment made. The second assembly 8 is provided with distribution means 24 for the second record carriers, operated by the payment-controlled means 18. Application to the fast recording of sound and/or visual sequences chosen from a list, on a record carrier which can be kept, in public places, with prior payment. <IMAGE>
