The invention relates to an element forming a plate of a cooling bank. This element forming a plate of a cooling bank 10 is characterised in that it is produced from a material with low thermal conductivity, preferably of the refractory type. It may, for example, be concrete or a ceramic material. This element may be supported by a metal frame 12 and have an upper face 14 possessing notches 16 of the same pitch as the rakes.
