摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the discharge breakdown by electric field impression and to increase recording density so as to obtain the optical recording medium having high recording sensitivity by providing an insulating layer between a recording layer consisting of a ferroelectric high polymer and electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The lower electrode 2, the recording layer 3, the insulating layer 4, and the upper electrode 5 are formed successively on a substrate 1. The insulating layer 4 may be provided between the lower electrode 2 and the recording layer 3 and may be further provided between the recording layer 3 and the lower electrode 2 and the upper electrode 5 as well. The recording layer 3 consists of the ferroelectric high polymer and a dye which absorbs semiconductor laser light with good efficiency. Org. materials, such as thermoplastic resin, thermosetting resin, UV curing resin, and electron beam curing resin, and inorg. materials, such as metal oxides and metal sulfides, are usable for the insulating layer 4. The recording medium made of the ferroelectric high polymer which does not generate the discharge breakdown and has the increased recording density and recording sensitivity is obtd. in this way.
