<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic tape and a magnetic head from wearing by eliminating excessive residual tape tension when a fast forwarding mode of the tape under the state of winding around a head cylinder is shifted to a stopping mode. CONSTITUTION:When the fast forwarding mode of FF and REW is shifted to the stopping mode, reel bases 1 and 2 are once stopped first, and then an operation similar to a recording or reproducing mode is performed. That is, the tape is fed by a capstan 4, and the tape is traveled at low speed by the reel base 2 on the take-up side, and also the head cylinder 3 is rotated. Moreover, a tension servo mechanism 10 is operated to adjust the tape tension, and after this operation in a short time the reel bases 1 and 2, etc., are stopped to make the stopping mode. Thus, by operating the tension servo mechanism 10 for a short time after completing the FF or REW mode, excessive tape tension does not remain. By this method, the damage of the tape and wear of the head are reduced.</p> |
