The bimetallic strip for manufacturing metal saw blades and metal saw strips consists of a carrier strip and a cutting steel surfacing welded thereto, preferably of high-speed steel, the carrier strip consisting of a martensite-hardened steel having a carbon content of at most 0.05% by weight and an alloy content of at least 10% by weight. A particularly high bending fatigue strength and fracture toughness of the bimetallic strip is obtained if the carrier strip has a carbon content of 0.01 to 0.02% by weight and contains, in % by weight, 8 to 18 of Ni, 6 to 12 of Co, 4 to 8 of Mo, 0.4 to 1 of Ti and/or Al and/or Nb/Ta of the alloy elements, the remainder being iron and impurities resulting from smelting. |
