MANUFACTURE OF SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE ROD

PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture wire rod with a uniform composition in a short time by molding raw material constituting a specific superconducting material and baking the material with micro waves having a specific output in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A raw material consisting L-M-Cu-O type superconducting material (L: one or more of yttrium, bisthmuth, thallium, lead and lanthanoids, and M: one or more of Group IIa elements of the periodic table) is made into mouldings by forming the raw material into a linear and hollow form or filmily coating a base material with the raw material or filling a hollow base material with the raw material. A superconducting wire rod having a fine uniform composition can be manufactured in a short time by making a microwave of an output of 0.1-50W/mm<2> act on the mouldings in an oxidizing atmosphere for 1-6 minutes to preferentially heat and sinter the component of superconducting raw material.
