Date Feb. 25, 1988.A constant speed drive unit or cruise control in which an output approximate to a required gain characteristic is obtained from a speed signal, frequency conversion of the approximate output is carried out, and a motor is driven with a converted frequency pulse, whereby variable gain control approximate to a gain of the automobile is achieved. When speed deviation (difference between actual speed and set speed) is small, operation is switched to a constant gain control to improve control stability.
