An optical fibre assembly (10) comprising a housing (12) defining a passage (16) therethrough in which an elongate optical fibre (14) resides, the housing (12) having a central housingalignment axis (18) and at least the end portion of said passage (16) extending along an axis in acute first angle (I) intersecting relation to said central housing alignment axis (18) of said housing (12) whereby the optical fibre (14) is constrained to be also disposed at said acute first angle (I) to said housing alignment axis (18), said optical fibre (14) having an end face (22) intersected by said central housing alignment axis (18) of said housing (12), said fibre end face (22) being at an acute second angle (II) relative to the plane orthogonal to the adjoining fibre longitudinal axis (24).
