A balance weight plate 10 for a rotatable shaft is secured to the exterior of the shaft at two spaced fixing points 11, 12. The plate is formed with one or more openings in the form of slots or apertures in the area of the plate 10 intermediate the fixing points 11, 12. The plate 10 is of generally channel shaped cross sectional form having shaft contact regions and a bridge portion spaced from the shaft surface. Various configurations of slots and apertures are described and illustrated. The slots and apertures permit a degree of flexibility to the balance weight plate to accommodate flexure under loading during rotation of the shaft and plate. <IMAGE> |
