PURPOSE:To aim at a remarkable improvement in performance by coating a conductive core with active paste incorporating cadmium oxide or the like and zinc to thus manufacture a plate, and charging the plate in such a state as to be immersed in an alkaline solution so as to convert a part of cadmium oxide into metallic cadmium by a chemical conversion treatment. CONSTITUTION:A conductive core is coated with active paste incorporating cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide and zinc, thereby manufacturing a plate. The plate is charged in such a state as to be immersed in an alkaline solution. As a result, the shape of the active material is changed by charging so that a zinc-solved liquid is easy to be dispersed in the plate. Therefore, a zinc reducing reaction is expedited, and then, zinc hydroxide solved in the alkaline solution can be produced. Since the zinc hydroxide as a reaction product can be easily removed by washing with water or the like, zinc can be restrained from remaining in a negative plate. Consequently, conductivity of an electrolyte is not reduced so that a decrease in operating voltage can be prevented at the time of discharging of a battery. Furthermore, priority of the negative plate can be prevented at the time of charging/discharging of the battery. |
