PURPOSE:To manufacture easily a composite cast roll by casting first the outer shell layer of a roll by centrifugal casting and casting successively a core part of roll into the outer layer to form them into one body and cutting thereafter the body into a specific dimensional shape in manufacturing a composite cast roll. CONSTITUTION:An outer shell layer 18 having a body diam. D1' and a length L' which are larger by the processing allowances than the body diam. D1 and total length L of the final shape of a roll respectively is cast by centrifugal casting by using a material consisting of high chrome cast iron, etc. which is excellent in resistances to wear, surface roughening, and thermal cracking. Successively, a core part 19 consisting of a tough material such as cast steel or ductile cast iron, etc. is cast in the outer shell layer 18 to form them metallurgically into one body. Next, these are machined so that the dimensions of each part at the 4th time are as follows, where, D2/D1=0.7-0.95 (D2 is a diam. to be discarded), D1/l=0.12-0.25, Dn/D1=0.3-0.55, l1/l or l2/l=0.05-0.20, D3/ D1=0.55-0.70, Dn<D3<D2'. |
