An apparatus for electroplating successive surfaces 61 of a crank-shaft 6 comprises means, e.g. girders 4 and roller bearings 5 for supporting the shaft horizontally and in axially rotatable manner, a movable bath 12 adapted successively to receive the surfaces 61, vertically operable lifting means, e.g. a lifting cylinder 9, for raising the bath 12, and a trolley 8 carrying the cylinder 9. The girders 4 extend across two spaced parallel beams 1 between which the trolley 8 is disposed. A pump 15 circulates electrolyte between a container 17 and the bath 12 in which is suspended an anode 19 which is in halves, each comprising threesemicircular members adapted to embrace the surface 61. Each half anode is mounted respectively on a lead 21, 22, the leads being removably interconnected at 25 and supplying current from a bar 28. The cathode connection is at 29. In a modification, the bath 12 has staggered notches in its upper edge to receive the shaft 6 and stands in a shallow tank on the cylinder 9, electrolyte overflowing the bath 12 and passing from the tank back to the container 17. The girders 4 are horizontally movable.</p>
