<p>A composite cellular sandwich structure (10). The structure (10) comprises a cellular core (12) with at least one thermoplastic composite layer (20, 22) disposed adjacent to a side of the core and heat bonded thereto. To facilitate bonding, a film of thermoplastic (24, 26) may be disposed between the composite layer (20, 22) and the core (12). Preferably, the thermoplastic material in both the composite layer (20, 22) and the film (24, 26) is a polyarylene sulfide, such as polyphenylene sulfide. No secondary adhesive is required in the bonding process. A method of substantially continuously producing the composite cellular sandwich structure (10) is also disclosed.</p> |
