PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of large vibration noise by mounting a detection means for detecting the angle-of-rotation position of the rotor of a stepping motor and a control means for subjecting the driving of the stepping motor to closed loop control on the basis of the detection signal of the detection means. CONSTITUTION:An encoder 25 is constituted of the disc-shaped encoder slit 8 connected to the rotary support shaft 10 of one pulley 3b becoming a pair along with the other pulley 3a connected to the rotor shaft 1a of a carriage driving motor 1 and a photointerruptor 9 and the photointerruptor 9 detects the number of passing slits. That is, since the encoder slit 8 is connected to the rotor shaft 1a of the carriage driving motor 1 through the pulley 3b, a belt 6 and the pulley 3a, the quantity of rotation of the motor 1 and the angle- or-rotation position thereof can be detected on the basis of the output signal of the photointerruptor 9 of the encoder 25. A current change-over circuit 24 performs the closed loop control of the change-over of the motor coil exciting current of the carriage driving motor 1 corresponding to the detection output of the encoder 25 on the basis of the order of an MPU 20.
