A self-closing, draught-free animal hatch, which can swing only to one side and can be used by animals from both sides, comprises a frame 1 and a hatch 2, which on hinges turns about vertical or horizontal axis 4. On that side of the hatch 2, which faces in the swivelling direction when opening, in the area furthest from the axis 4, a flap 3 is fitted in such a way that the animal, with the hatch 2 in the closed position, is able to get its snout in between the wall 5 and the flap 3. The pressure of the head against flap 3 and hatch 2 opens the hatch 2 fully and allows the animal to pass through the opening. The flap 3 may be designed as a hoop 3 and with a bow, which allows the frame 1 and the hatch 2 to be built in flush with the external face of the wall 5 on the side in the direction of swivelling. <IMAGE>
