Paints etc. are atomised by combining a compressed air flow and a paint flow to form a coarse mixt. which is then ejected through an outlet (10) to the ambient atmos. The outlet has throttle action, and is opened and closed cyclically. Thus, the coarse paint and air mixt. under excess pressure, is divided into almost equal finer mixt. portions, which is at normal pressure, when emerging into the ambient atmos. ADVANTAGE - Reduced mixt formation and paint losses.
