<p>PURPOSE:To simply construct a retarder by providing inductor poles at the end of a flywheel along the circumferential direction, and providing a stator opposite to the poles in a flywheel housing. CONSTITUTION:Inductor poles 7 are formed at the end of a flywheel 4 secured to a crankshaft 3 along the circumferential direction, and an armature coil 11 and a field coil 12 are wound on a pole core 9 secured opposite to the poles 7 on the inner surface of a flywheel housing 2 to construct a retarder. When a retarder switch is closed, current flows from a battery to the field coil 12 of the stator, and an automobile is braked by the brake force of the retarder. Thus, the housing does not increase in a radial direction, thereby capable of constructing the retarder compactly.</p> |
