In the lens grinder, the chuck (12) holding the lens rotates round an axls (12a) and also revolves round an axls (16). The dishshaped grinding member (14) rotates freely and moves linearly up and down. So the grinding is performed as the lens held by the chuck moves after the curved face of the grinding member. The grinder comprises a motor (M) driving the axls (12a), a revolving block (13) connected to the axls (16), a sleeve (19) adjsting the height of the revolving block (13), a sleeve (15) having a ruler (21) for measuring the height of the rotational axls (12a), and a cylinder (14a) actuating the linear monement of the dish-shaped grinding member (11). The advantage is providing a precise curvature.
