<p>The main cylindrical container has a specific volume and holds water heated to 70-95deg.C. The smaller sampling unit accommodates a specific volume of water between 50 and 150 ml, the content of organic matter in which is to be analysed. This latter volume of water is fed into the sampling unit by a pump. A gas pump feeds a specific vol. of gas at a specific rate, 30-100 ml/minute into the sampling unit to bubble through the water vol. in it. This causes dissolved organic matter in the water to be liberated and to follow the gas out through an outlet. This gas outlet is connected by a pipe to a drier for adsorption of water vapour emerging with the gas. An analysis unit is coupled to the drier for handling the organic matter coming with the gas from the sampling unit. Alternatively, the organic matter is stored in a concn. tube for subsequent conventional analysis.</p> |
