<p>PURPOSE:To enable four wheel steering to be performed by means of steering torque even in a vehicle furnished with no bydraulic system by detecting the steering torque of an electrically driven power steering device which drivingly assists main steering wheels, and thereby steering subsidiary steering wheels so as to be controlled in response to the result of the detection. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle 2 is equipped with a main steering means 8 steering front wheels 10 acting as main steering wheels, and a steered means 12 steering rear wheels 14 acting as subsidiary steering wheels. The steered means 12 is driven by an electric motor 28. In addition, the vehicle 2 is equipped with a power steering device 32 which has a torsion bar (not shown) connected with a steering shaft 6 interposed within a gear box 34. In this case, the twist of the torsion bar is detected by a torque sensor 42 as steering torque. Based on the detected steering torque, the electric motor 28 is controlled by a control means 30, and the rear wheels 14 are thereby steered.</p> |
