This tray is of the type comprising a container containing a food substance and a container containing products capable of generating, by bringing them into contact, an exothermic chemical reaction. According to the invention, the tray (2) comprises: - an outer case (3) made from a synthetic material resisting a temperature of at least 250 DEG Celsius and resisting acids and bases and capable of allowing the reflection of heat towards the inside of the tray (2) without transmitting it to the outside, all of this being possible even with a small material thickness; - a cover 6 which can be heat sealed in a fluid-tight manner on the outer case (3), forming a barrier between the reactive products (4, 5); - a food container (7) made of synthetic material accepting the transmission of heat and which can be joined to the outer case (3) by intermolecular bonding in such a way as to trap the reactive products (4, 5); - a device (15) for perforating the abovementioned cover (6) and means (15b, 18, 19, 20) for actuating it totally isolated from the outside; - a peelable cover (10) sealed onto the container (7) containing the foodstuffs in such a way as to ensure its closure.
