PURPOSE:To efficiently perform the conversion work of a file layout by automatically extracting data relating to the attribute of a file from the file layout information of all migrating programs. CONSTITUTION:After file layouts are extracted from all programs in advance and they are parameterized, they are made into a attribute codes, respectively, and are compared with each other, and are grouped at every group with the same pattern, and the conversion of the file layout for each of the group is performed based on a prescribed parameter. Such conversion parameter includes, for example, FROM specification, a conversion instruction information code 11, the instruction record 12 of multiformat, the data part descriptive content record 13 of COBOL. Thereby, it is possible to efficiently change the layout of the file.
