<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a waste water treating agent consisting of immobilized nitrifying bacteria which permits the efficient utilization of the nitrifying bacteria by enveloping the aerobic nitrifying bacteria and a material having ion exchange ability with ammoniacal nitrogen by active fixation into a hydrous gel. CONSTITUTION:The waste water treating agent is produced by fixing and enveloping the aerobic nitrifying bacteria and the material such as geolite, diatomaceous earth or ion exchange resin having the ion exchange ability with the ammoniacal nitrogen into the hydrous gel of polyacrylamide, carrageenan, agar, PVA, sodium aluginate, etc. The nitrifying bacteria and the material having the ion exchange ability are added into the mixture composed of an acrylamide monomer and crosslinking agent and a polymn. catalyst or the like is added thereto to polymerize the monomer by a conventional practice in the case of containing and fixing said bacteria and material into, for example, the polyacrylamide gel, by which the waste water treating agent is produced.</p> |
