Appts. for axially moving rotating shafts consists of a clamping device having a clamping head with a prestressed spring which acts on the clamping disc via hollow cylinder. The disc in turn pushes clamping bush towards the roll axle where its inside profiled surface locks into the complementary profiled surface of axle. To release the clamping effect, hydraulic fluid is passed to area thereby forcing the spring to recoil and the surface to disconnect.
