Sawtooth garniture, for swifts and sections in textile machinery, such as combers, opening rollers on OE machines, and similar, is formed into bars of sawtooth material. A number of sawtooth bars are aligned on steel base plates, which are bowed. The side ends are left to protrude from the sawtooth material, and these ends are bored for screws. The screws then hold the steel base plates flat on to the support sections or rollers. Pref. the sawtooth garniture is arranged in pieces and laid parallel for the width of the roller or section. These are dovetailed on a steel bar or base plate, fitting closely together around the circumference. The ends of the plate protrude fromm the garniture at each side. Holes are bored for screws. As the base plate, or bar, is slightly bowed before hardening, the screws at each end hold the garniture closely to the roller, or section. The ends of the garniture are close fitting, without leaving gaps. ADVANTAGE - The spring base causes the sawtooth material to lie flat against the roller or section, without central screws or dovetails. The bars may be removed separately.
