摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce shift shock by furnishing a capacity varying means to vary the transmitted torque capacity through changing of the angle of a stator impeller of a torque converter at the time of up-shifting into a gear position where the gearing ratio becomes small. CONSTITUTION:A piston 26 is held at one end at normal times by a spring 28, and a stator impeller 18c is maintained at a predetermined angle. When the line oil pressure of an oil hydraulic control device is introduced, the piston is moved to the other moving end, and the angle of the stator impeller 18c is varied. When a shift mechanism 20 is to be up-shifted, a valve open signal SD is fed to a solenoid opening/closing valve 30, and the line oil pressure is introduced, and thus the angle of the stator impeller 18c is changed to lessen the transmitted torque capacity of the torque converter concerned 18. This makes gradual the drop of the engine revolving speed associate with increase in the load torque, mitigates temporary increase of the torque on the output shaft, and lessens drop of the torque on output shaft after shifting. Thus shift shock is reduced.
