PURPOSE:To obtain a dense Al2O3-Cr2O3 sintered body having high corrosion resistance and satisfactory durability even in a severe environment by adding titanium oxide or talc as a sintering aid to an aluminum oxide-chromium oxide blend and firing them in the air. CONSTITUTION:Titanium oxide or talc (3MgO.4SiO2.H2O) as a sintering aid is added to starting material consisting of 70-50wt.% aluminum oxide and 30-50wt.% chromium oxide by <=1.5wt.% of the amt. of the starting material and they are fired at about 1,500-1,600 deg.C in the air. The oxides do not require higher purity than the purity of commercially available products and the pref. grain size is <=5mum. |
