<p>PURPOSE:To instruct a superscription position and an insertion position of a character so as to be easily understandable by displaying a character designating cursor at the time of designating the superscription of the character, and displaying an inter-character cursor at the time of designating the insertion of the character. CONSTITUTION:The document editing device is constituted of a main control part 1, a keyboard control part 2, a cursor shape deciding part 3, a cursor plotting part 4, a keyboard 5 and a display. In such a state, an inter-character cursor is displayed between characters, for instance, it is a vertical rod, and an on-character cursor is displayed in a character position, and for instance, the character is surrounded by a square range and black and white are inverted. At the time of designating the superscription of the character, a character designating cursor is displayed, and at the time of designating the insertion of the character, the inter-character cursor is displayed.
