The clamp for two members forming a mitred joint has two fixed jaws (16) with their faces at 90 deg. to each other. Each fixed jaw cooperates with a slide jaw (44) to grip a workpiece (18) forming one frame member. Before the two workpieces are joined together, a test adjuster (22) is placed between the faces (58) which are to form the mitred joint. The adjuster indicates the surface inclinations at the correct angle. ADVANTAGE - Automatic adjustment prior to easy joining.
