摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the display element which has a good contrast, is free from a hysteresis characteristic and has high reliability by using a thermoplastic high polymer for a carrier and using a reflection mode. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes ITO 2 and transparent electrodes ITO 5 are formed on a substrate 1 and a substrate 6 and a mixture composed of a liquid crystal and the thermoplastic high polymer is inserted between these substrates. A reflecting plate 7 is disposed on the outer side of the element part formed in such a manner by inclining the plate 3 deg. with the surface of the element part. Since light passes twice the element in such a manner, the curve of the square of the electrooptical characteristics measured by a transmission mode is obtd. There are substantially no hyesteresis characteristics if the thermoplastic high polymer is used. Since the carrier is not formed by polymn., the liquid crystal is less damaged. The reliability is, therefore, improved.
