PURPOSE:To avoid dusting due to the abrasion of an electrode by constituting a device, in which the output terminal of a station-side charger conducted with mercury and the input terminal of a car battery conducted with the metallic electrode are connected electrically. CONSTITUTION:When a car body 1 is stopped at the fixed position of a charging station, a vertically movable mechanism 7 is driven, and a mercury reservoir 11 is lifted. The lifting is controlled by another control mechanism not shown so as to be stopped when the front end section of an electrode 4 mounted on the side face of the car body is dipped in mercury in necessary length, thus preventing the mutual contacts of the mercury reservoir 11 and the electrode 4. When the elevation of he mercury reservoir is stopped, a switch 5 is closed at proper timing, and charging to a car battery is started. When charging is completed, the switch 5 is opened, the mercury reservoir 11 is lowered up to a specified position by the vertically movable mechanism 7, the contact of the electrode 4 and mercury 8 is interrupted, and the traveling of the car body is prepared. Accordingly, solid electrodes are not brought into contact mutually, thus preventing dusting. |
