PURPOSE:To improve a repeatability in recording and erasing and obtain a longer life by a method wherein a part of a recording layer provided on a substrate is made of a chalcopyrite compound shown by Ib-IIIb-VIb2 in the periodic table as a ternary or more compound, and one of protective layers provided between the recording layer and a substrate or on the recording layer contains a compound shown by IIb-VIb in the periodic table. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1, a heat-resistant protective layer 2, a recording layer 3, a heat-resistant protective layer 4, and a reflecting layer 5 are provided. As the substrate, a polycarbonate resin or an acrylic resin is preferably used in view of processability and optical characteristics. As a material for the heat-resistant protective layer, ZnS or the like is used. As a material for the recording layer, a chalcopyrite compound, such as AgInTe2, shown by Ib- IIIb-VIb2 in the periodic table is used. As a material for the reflecting layer, a metal, such as Al and Au, can be used, but this is not necessarily required. |
