PURPOSE:To eliminate the discontinuous display of a remote flaw regardless of the difference between the scanning densities of near and remote distances by forming display data as the increase function of the distance from an incident point. CONSTITUTION:By displaying a flaw so as to increase display width with respect to the detection of one flaw corresponding to the increase of the distance from an incident point 21 according to a display width calculating function x=f(L), even the flaw present at a position separated from the incident point 21 can be displayed as a smooth image and an image (c) is expanded to the pixel data corresponding to width (x) centering around the display pixel of the flaw on the screen of a CRT 16 according to the display width calculating function x=f(L) and continuously displayed in a horizontal direction by the quantity corresponding to said pixel to become the image shown by Fig. b. By this method, a measuring person easily estimates the shape of the flaw.
