PURPOSE:To perform a printing operation having excellent reliability with a simple structure by judging the type of a sheet and a conveying direction from sensed result of image receiving sheet sensing means when a platen drum is rotated to a predetermined position after an image receiving sheet is gripped by the drum. CONSTITUTION:A sheet feeding roller 14 for feeding image receiving sheets P stacked in a sheet feed cassette 18 to a platen drum 11, and a discharged sheet roller 15 for discharging the printed sheet P to a discharged sheet tray 20 are provided, and a sheet feed sensor 16 for sensing presence or absence of the sheet P is arranged on a sheet feeding passage between the roller 14 and the drum 11. Further, a slidable sheet guide plate 18a is provided in alignment with the width of the sheet in the cassette 18. A light shielding plate 18b formed integrally with the plate 18 is read by a sheet width sensor 19 to sense the width of the sheet P set in the cassette 18. Position sensing means 17 for sensing the position of a gripper 11a is provided on the drum 11. |
