PURPOSE:To permit an effective protection of the edges of a thin metal plate and combine the advantages of plastic and metallic caps by a method wherein the diameter of the thin metal plate of an inner lid is made larger than the inside diameter of a container opening part and smaller than the outside diameter thereof and the edges of the thin metal plate are covered with the liner material applied to its inner surface integrally therewith. CONSTITUTION:An inner lid 20 consists of a thin metal plate 21 such as tinplate and chromic acid treated steel plate and a liner 22 for retaining the sealability of a container lid. The diameter of the thin metal plate 21 is made larger than the inside diameter of a container opening part to be covered therewith to maintain its sealability. The liner 22 is made thin at the central part 22a of the inner lid and thick around the outer peripheral part 22b thereof so as to maintain the sealability between the liner and the mating container opening part. The outer peripheral part 22b of the liner is provided with a locking projection 23 for engaging the inner and outer lids and a covering part 24 for preventing the cut edge faces of the thin metal plate from exposure, both being formed integrally. The inner lid is supported within the outer lid 1 by a retaining projection 7 therein and the central opening part 2 of the outer lid 1 is completely closed. |
