PURPOSE:To arrange desiredly orientated reinforcing woven fabric at the desired site in a formed article by a method wherein compression molding is performed under the condition that plate-like composite materials made of thermoplastic resin, within each of which woven fabric is present, are arranged on at least some part of the surface made of long fiber- containing resinous bodies consisting of long fiber mat and thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:Each plate-like composite material is produced by piling up thermoplastic resin film and woven fabric made of reinforcing fiber, the melting point of which is higher than that of said resin or which is incompatible with said resin, so as to melt the film by heating and pressurize it to the direction of the plane of the woven fabric in order to fill the resin among the fibers of the woven fabric and has the surface covered by thin resin layer. By heating the plate-like composite materials and long fiber-containing resious bodies, the resins are melted. After that, the plate-like composite material 3 is quickly placed on the bottom force 1 of a mold. Next, the long fiber-containing resinous bodies 4 are quickly placed on the plate-like composite material 3. Finally, the plate-like composite material 3' is placed on the resinous bodies 4 so as to cover them. When the resultant assembly is pressed with the top force 2, the long fiber-containing resinous bodies 4 flow and, on the contrary, the plate-like composite materials 3 and 3' hardly elongate, resulting in that the thermoplastic resin-impregnated woven fabric is integrally arranged in the long fiber-containing resinous bodies. |
