<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a display method which facilitates the setting operation and is superior in visibility by displaying the picture of a menu display area over an input picture obtained by picking up the image of an object and displaying characters or the like indicating menu contents. CONSTITUTION:The picture on a video monitor consists of a picture display area 17 and a message display area 18 in the upper end part, and a picture 16 of the object is displayed in the picture display area. A first menu 19 is displayed in the message display area 18, and an operator operates an input device to move a cursor to some item and selects the menu. When the specific item is selected, a picture 21 of the first menu display area is displayed over the picture 16 of the object in the picture in the picture display area 17 without picture switching, and characters 22 indicating menu contents are displayed in this menu display area.</p> |
