A cassette for housing several protected optical fibres splices or joints comprises a tray 1 having upstanding from the internal surface of its base several transversely spaced, longitudinally extending walls 7 bounding a plurality of channels 8 for the reception of protected optical fibre splices or joints. At least one of the boundary walls 7 bounding each channel 8 has between its ends and integral with the wall at least one resilient tongue 9 which protrudes into the channel and will press a protected optical fibre splice or joint disposed in the channel against the opposite boundary wall of the channel to detachably secure the protected optical fibre splice or joint therein. Each resilient tongue 9 may be of such a length that it will press against the opposite boundary wall 7 of the channel 8 a protected optical fibre splice or joint having any diameter lying within a limited range of diameters differing from one another. The tray 1 may have a lid 14.
