PURPOSE: To provide a device for controlling the concentration of toner in a developer consisting of carrier and toner. CONSTITUTION: This system is provided with a control means generating a toner addition signal expressing the quantity of the toner to be added to the developer. The control means has the ability of measuring the concentration of the toner in the developer at least in a 1st period and a 2nd period continuous to the 1st period. The control means decides a 1st concentration error value as the function of deviation between the toner concentration measured in the 1st period and reference toner concentration, and a 2nd concentration error value as the function of deviation between the toner concentration measured in the 2nd period and the reference toner concentration. Then, the control means generates the toner addition signal as the function of the 1st and the 2nd concentration error values. Furthermore, the system is provided with a means for adjusting the addition of toner particles to the developer in response to the toner addition signal. |
