The plastics frame has a profiled beam with a number of chambers, also a face towards the adjacent beam of a second frame, from which an extension protrudes, bridging the intervening gap. A profiled, metal stiffening member is included. The stiffening member comrpises an L-shaped, external, cover strip (15), whose one chamber (16) covers the face (12) of the beam (10), and the other one (17) that (18) of the bridging extension facing the gap.
