The present invention relates to a method for splicing optical fibres, characterised in that it comprises the steps consisting: i) in inserting (threading) the respective ends of two fibres (1, 2) to be connected into a heat-shrinkable capillary sleeve; ii) in placing the capillary sleeve (10) in a split ring (20) made of electrically conducting material; and iii) in connecting the ends (21, 22) of the split ring (20) to an electrical power supply (30) in order to heat the split ring (20) and the capillary sleeve (10) so as to grip the latter tightly over the ends of the optical fibres by releasing the surface tensions in the capillary. <IMAGE>
